Yue Zhang is receiving his Ph.D. degree from the University of Toronto and obtained an M.A. from Beijing Normal University. He has taught various courses on Chinese language, literature, history, culture, East Asian civilization, and global Asia in America and Canada.

His doctoral dissertation on historical memory and nostalgia in poetry adopts a multidisciplinary approach to poems on history in early Medieval China (220-589). His research is sponsored by University of Toronto Fellowships, Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation Doctoral Fellowship, and Harvard Yenching Library Grants among many others. He has presented his research findings at various conferences convened by the Association for Asian Studies, the American Oriental Society, the American Comparative Literature Association, and Columbia University. Yue’s articles appear in several academic journals, such as: Early Medieval China, China Review International, Studies on Asia, Michigan Journal of Asian Studies, and East Asia Forum. He has also participated in several government-sponsored projects in Canada, the U.S., and China.
