In addition to developing their language skills in the classroom and lab, students can also apply to live in the Chinese Language Suite, located in Luce Residence Hall, and help the director, a native Chinese speaker, organize various events such as cooking Chinese food, viewing the latest Chinese films, or taking a bus trip to neighboring colleges or cities such as Cleveland or Columbus to attend lectures or film screenings. It has been a tradition for the Suite to hold joint parties to celebrate the Chinese New Year with those in OARDC and Wooster community at large. There is a small library in the lounge where one can find picture books, dictionaries and maps, accessaries for Chinese calligraphy, and cassettes of Chinese music and songs. You can apply living in the Suite by visiting Rujie Wang before the end of February to ensure full consideration. Preference is normally given to continuing language students and those that have just returned from studying the language abroad. Chinese nationals are also encouraged to apply if you welcome the duty and obligation to teach the language in the suite. In addition to regular language classes, students living in the Suite also go to Chinese Table once a week at dinner time in Lowry Center Dining Hall, to practice spoken Chinese with the instructor, and with each other as they socialize.
